Plans that lead to Nowhere!

Hello readers!

I want to share with you something that happened today in Worship Track. We had a guest speaker and he said something that has stuck with me all day: “Planning is good, but it often doesn’t work out the way I planned it.” I can make all the plans in the world, but if I don’t consult the Lord, it doesn’t really matter. Check out the verse in Proverbs 16:9 that reiterates that point: “We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it.”

Tangent: I watched “Dan in the Real Life” tonight with a few housemates and this quote stuck out: “Instead of telling our young people to plan ahead, we should tell them to plan to be surprised” by Dan Burns. It sparked the thought I think I often get caught up in needing to have life figured out. When really, I should etch my plans in pencil and submit them to the Lord. If I write them in pencil, then I can use the eraser if the Lord had something else in mind. Life doesn’t usually go the way I plan anyways, so I should just surrender it now and expect to be surprised by the Lord at some point.

I am going to let you in on a maybe not so surprising fact about me: I have forsaken living in the moment for planning the next thing for a lot of life instead of living in the moment and/or worrying about the future. It wasn’t until going on a Kingdom Journey (World Race) that I realized this: I had not taken the time to enjoy the season I was in, because I was always living for what was next.

Matthew 6:33-34 says “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
I want to share this thought also, because this next thought may have also come up and I hope you don’t misunderstand me though… this doesn’t give me the choice to just float through life without a plan and wandering aimlessly. But, all of these ideas about planning is reminding me that I shouldn’t hold on to my plan so tightly that I end up disobeying the Lord’s leading.

I was aware of this next statement that I am about to make before now, but the truth of it has been flashing even brighter in neon colors in the night sky recently: I am finding that life is all about a balance, in more ways than one. I hope that isn’t too shocking, but know that it is alright if it was. I’d love to share about the balancing act, but I shall leave that for a later blog (or conversation).

Fundraising Status Update: Our system is getting an update, so, if you’ve given sometime within the last week, then I don’t know about it yet. Thank you very much for your prayers and financial support. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to be further trained and equipped for the Kingdom, and it would not be possible without your support. I am still a little over $1,000 away from being fully funded for this first semester at the CGA. Won’t you prayerfully consider either becoming a monthly supporter or giving a one-time gift. All donations are tax-deductible if given directly to AIM. If you feel led to give, you can click on the Support Me! link located in the left-hand column. I’d love to answer any questions or hear any comments that you have, so feel free to leave me a comment.

Many Blessings to you!Misha
